Ylang Ylang Essential Oil Spotlight

Harmony-inducing Ylang Ylang Extra essential oil is obtained from the flowers of the tropical fragrant Cananga odorata tree, native to Malaysia & Indonesia.   There are different grades of Ylang Ylang essential oil.  We chose to use Extra which is produced during the first hour of distillation and considered the best quality for perfuming and aromatherapy.  When the flowers first appear, they are greenish, and over the course of 15-20 days, open, turn yellow and release an enveloping aroma in the evening.  The calming, floral aroma can be described as warm, seductive, exotic and sweet.  In Indonesia, it is tradition to throw the flower petals all over a couple’s bed on their wedding night.   Ylang Ylang has been reported to help blood pressure normalize and has antidepressant properties.  I personally carry a bottle of Ylang Ylang with me at all times and upon opening the bottle, I immediately feel comforted, the luscious scent fills my senses with a feeling of joy and ease washes over me, melting away any tension.
